Trade Marks

We have an immediate vacancy for an experienced trade mark practitioner.  The ideal candidate will be a qualified Chartered or European Trade Mark Attorney with at least one to two years post-qualification experience.   

We also welcome enquiries from candidates with an expectation of qualifying within the next 12 months, and from graduate or post-graduate candidates interested in future training opportunities within the trade mark team. 

Some of the duties the successful applicant will encounter in their day-to-day work include:

  • Providing pre-filing advice to a range of clients;
  • Providing trade mark clearance searches and advising clients accordingly;
  • Filing and prosecuting trade marks on a worldwide basis, including the UK, EU and Madrid system;
  • Working on both non-contentious and contentious matters, including participating in hearings and handling oppositions on behalf of clients;
  • Advising clients in relation to other IP matters; and
  • Assisting with the further development of the trade marks practice.

Patents

We currently have vacant patent attorney trainee positions in each of our Glasgow and Aberdeen offices, suitable for applicants with backgrounds in physics, electronics, engineering or computer science.

We also welcome enquiries from experienced candidates about current and future opportunities within the patent team.

  • Advising clients in relation to other IP matters; and
  • Assisting with the further development of the patent practice.

IP Formalities

Due to increasing volumes of case work, Lincoln IP has a vacancy for an IP Formalities Administrator, to be based in either of our Aberdeen or Glasgow offices. 

Some of the duties the successful applicant will encounter in their day-to-day work include:

  • Supporting maintenance of our internal IP database and systems
  • Preparing trade mark forms for filing
  • Preparing patent and design forms for filing
  • Preparing standard agreements for clients, including Power of Attorney, Assignments and Declarations
  • Assignment and change of address recordal
  • EP grant phase and validations
  • Maintenance fee handling

Suitable candidates will have basic patent and trade mark knowledge and preferably will have worked in the IP industry for at least 1-2 years.  Being a holder of either CIPA’s Certificate in Patent Administration or CITMA’s Trade Mark Administrators’ certificate would be advantageous but is not essential.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate good communication skills, an eye for detail and an enthusiasm to develop our internal systems.
